Placer County mPower Program:

mPower is Placer County's energy efficiency loan program based on California Assembly Bill 811. AB 811 allows cities and counties to provide financing for renewable energy production and energy or water efficiency improvements. The financing is attached to your property taxes, which means that you don’t have to pass a credit check to qualify. In addition, because it raises your property taxes, it’s tax deductible. Placer County was one of the first counties in California to develop a program based on AB 811.

Currently, mPower will finance your improvements at 7.25%, with a repayment time of 5-20 years, depending on the expected life of the improvement. With solar electric PV panels, that would be over 20 years. There are some solar-specific requirements, smaller energy efficiency improvements that must be done before they will pay for solar, but we can help you through getting those done as well.

To qualify for mPower, you will have to attend a short (about 2 hours) informational seminar about the program that Placer County puts on regularly.
