Solar Rebates: There are several local, state, and federal solar rebate programs that help make solar affordable. Depending on the area you live in, you will be eligible for multiple rebates or tax credits. Some of the more important rebates are detailed below:

Federal Tax Credit:

Who Can Apply: Anyone
Savings: 30% of total system cost (after all other rebates) is received as a tax credit on the income tax for the year the project is completed in. If you do not use all of the tax credit in one year, it carries over to further years.

California Solar Initiative:

Who Can Apply: Home or business owners within the service areas of Pacific Gas and Electric, Southern California Edison, or San Diego Gas and Electric.
Savings: $0.65 per watt for PG&E and SDGE, $1.55 per watt for SCE Residential, $1.10 per watt for SCE Non-Residential.

Who Can Apply: Home or business owners within the electrical service area of the Sacramento Municipal Utility District.
Savings: $1.90 per Residential Systems, $1.10 per watt for Commercial Systems.
